Leafy Bullet Blitzen of Pico Leafy Bullet
AHR #405635

Color: Grey
Sex: Stallion
Foaled: December 28, 1987

Sire: Pico Haat Shaat (Haat Shaat+ x Jolley Pico by Rahmoun)

Dam: Amazon of Pico (Amara Baha x Zamiga by *Zamal)

Breeder: William R. or Austine Hearst Jr. San Simeon, California

From our Arieana Notebook:
Blitzen of Pico
was doing extremely well in his career as Sandy Obermeyer's Endurance Horse, had finished several 50-mile rides and a 2-day 100-mile ride (finishing Best Conditioned), was being shown English Pleasure and Dressage, when sadly while running and playing in his pasture, he slipped in the mud and slid sideways, getting himself all entangled in a steel cattle gate; the resulting injuries were so severe that he was retired from active race and show competition.

Thankfully and with some time and lots of tender, loving care from The Obermeyers, Blitzen of Pico recovered well from those injuries and went on to serve as a sire for Di Hopkins-Ryan and her program at White Horse Acres in Texas, pasture breeding her mares and enjoying a new career as her show jumper and lesson horse. His last owner of record was Dian Woodward of Global Endurance in Moab, Utah, and date of death is noted as May 29, 2013.

As a sire: Blitzen of Pico, "...bred to be the consummate athlete" (quoting Arlene Magid, former senior editor of Arabian Horse Times) was highly regarded as a sire of performance champions in reining, working cow, dressage, hunter pleasure. He was listed by Arabian Horse World as a Leading Performance sire at Scottsdale 2001 and 2002. His foals have also been Top Ten and Best Condition recipients in Endurance. He consistently passed on his size, substance, correctness, and an exceptionally kind disposition. Very few of his foals are ever offered for sale as their owners love them and just cannot bear to part with them.

We at Arieana Arabians are extremely proud of these foals which Blitzen of Pico sired for us: Shaatina Moun, Rahzella Moun, and  Haat Pursuit.
