From our Arieana Notebook: *Berk, Champion at Islington in 1909, 1910, and 1911, was a key sire at Crabbet. Sold by Wilfrid S. Blunt to W.R. Brown during the stressful times of World War I and imported to the United States in 1918 at age 15, *Berk was later accounted as "irreplaceable" by Lady Wentworth. *Berk was of major international influence as a sire and renown for passing on his style, quality, and brilliant, high, airy trot.

At Arieana Arabians we take great pride that *Berk carried forward the Seyal branch of the Mesaoud sireline mid-pedigree in the horses of our breeding program, and that today we can still see *Berk's remarkable performance qualities shining through as we view and ride and enjoy the lovely gaits, feel the depth of heart, and pure athleticism of our Arabian horses descending from *Berk through his accountably best son Ribal and his influential daughters *Ramin, Rissla, Roshana, and Tahdik.

For additional details and photographs, *Berk is featured in his own chapter in Carol Mulder's book, Imported Foundation Stock of North American Arabian Horses, Volume 3, pp. 3-42.

From our Arieana Notebook: Bukra was noted as a fine polo pony, an outstanding broodmatron, and a highly desirable pedigree element. She was especially recognized for her ability to pass on her paternal grandsire Azrek's good trotting action, adding through her son *Berk and his descendants yet another dimension to the already high standards for quality, type, and working ability within the herd of Arabian Horses bred and owned by Mr. W. K. Kellogg at his ranch in Pomona, California.
