From our Arieana Notebook:
Ghanigat is highly valued in the pedigrees of Arieana Arabians for
her joining place on our family tree of two highly-regarded tail
female lines from the original bloodstock of the Crabbet Arabian
Stud. From Muhlis
(pictured above), her daughter by *Mounwer,
this Ghanigat branch descends
in tail female through Jolley Pico to our two foundation mares
Haapey Pico
and Gleeful Pico. And from her daughter
Nigha by Roabrah, this Ghanigat
line descends
through Mounigha to Zamiga and on
to her daughter Amazon of Pico,
the dam of Blitzen of Pico who sired Haat Pursuit
now proudly owned by Tim and Kristi
Johnson of Berlin, WI.
Ghanigat was purchased by William Randolph Hearst during Maynesboro's
Dispersal Sale
of 1935 and became one of Mr. Hearst's favorite mares, so much favored in fact that her portrait
was used on the San Simeon Stables letterhead.
We likewise favor this intense infusion of Ghanigat in our foals
for this mare's ability to pass along her sweet disposition, willing temperament,
the form-to-function conformation so necessary for success in the
Arabian Sporting Horse endeavors we endorse, along with the inheritable genetics to support a very long, productive life.
This
is the only photo of Ghanigat or her daughter Muhlis
that is available to us, so we thought it appropriate to include a few words
about Muhlis on this page. Muhlis was the dam of 17 registered purebred
Arabian foals (6 colts and 11 fillies) of which her daughter Kishtee
Priza (see Jolley Pico) carries
forward this valued tail female line in our foundation mares. Muhlis
was purchased in the Hearst Estate Sale of 1950 by Russell S. and
Doris G. Schow of Pleasant Grove, Utah. She had her last of 17
purebred registered foals for them in 1976 at age 26, a fact which once again well
illustrates the long, productive life for which this tail female
family line is widely renown. The exact date and circumstances of her death
are unknown to us. (See Muhlis pedigree
below).
