Line Break

From our Arieana Notebook: From out of the last registered foal crop of *Berk, Ribal is noted as owned by the U.S. Remount, Washington D.C., by the time he was 3 years old. During Ribal's  lifetime he was stationed back home at Maynesboro Stud in New Hampshire, then with John A. George of Indiana, and then lastly with Robert T. Wilson of Pennsylvania and Arizona. We are fortunate that Ribal had the opportunity to sire purebred foals, for Ribal was noted as a horse with a brilliant trot and wonderful bone and structure ~ traits he certainly passed on to his foals.

This exciting son of *Berk out of *Rijma holds his place of honor in our pedigrees as the sire of Ghanigat, the treasured mare of the breeding program of William Randolph Hearst of San Simeon, California.

Sex: Stallion
Foaled: February 15, 1932

Sire: *Nasik (Rijm x Narghileh by Mesaoud)

Dam: *Rifla (Rasim x Rim by Astraled)

Breeder: W.K. Kellogg.
Pomona, California

Sire of 62 purebred registered foals of which his daughters Ritama (see Tamarlane) and Tamma are of significance mid-pedigree in Arieana's Arabians.

From our Arieana Notebook: Rifnas was a product of 100% Crabbet bloodstock, a popular sire, and was much admired by the general public. He was a key performer in the Kellogg Sunday Shows where he led the all-chestnut Liberty Drill team and was later trained for "high school" work and featured performing the Spanish Walk (see photo above). When the Army assumed management of the ranch, Rifnas was one of the stallions assigned to the Remount for crossing on grade mares, so he had few registered get after that date. Borden Publishing Company, Alhambra, California. 1958. pp. 183-185.)

Leafy Bullet *Rizvan Leafy Bullet
AHR #381

Color: Chestnut
Sex: Stallion
Foaled: March 27, 1919

Height: 14.3 1/2 HH
Weight: 960 Lbs.

Sire: Ibn Yashmak (Feysul x Yashmak by Shahwan)

Dam: *Rijma (Rijm x Risala by Mesaoud)

Breeder: Crabbet Arabian Stud. Sussex, England

Double Registered with The Thoroughbred Jockey Club as No. 95941 in their American Stud Book.

Sire of 15 registered purebred Arabian foals (5 colts and 10 fillies), here in the United States, in England, and also in Puerto Rico. It is through his daughter *Bahreyn and also his son Raja-Al-Mustakbal that we find *Rizvan's influence mid-pedigree in the foundation bloodstock of Arieana Arabians.

Line Break

From our Arieana Notebook: *Rizvan was an en-utero import (see also his dam *Rijma) and part of a group of 17 Arabians imported in 1918 from the Crabbet Stud of Wilfrid Blunt by W.R. Brown for his Maynesboro Stud, Berlin, New Hampshire. *Rizvan was a difficult horse to manage as he had much nervous energy, but his plus positives in terms of style, conformation, and the ability to sire better than himself has earned him a place of respect in the pedigree histories of the horses of Arieana Arabians.

While under the ownership of W.R. Brown, *Rizvan sired eight foals of quality and merit, including his daughter *Bahreyn who was sold to England en-utero with her dam *Battla and then re-purchased and re-imported in 1926 as a 2-year old by W.K. Kellogg. Today we find this daughter *Bahreyn of significant influence in our pedigrees as the dam of Ronek. At W.R. Brown's Maynesboro Stud, *Rizvan also sired his first-born foal and son Raja-Al-Mustakbal, a stallion we find in our pedigrees through Masyra, grand dam of Danalon who sired  Bint Gayneyna. *Rizvan was sold to Juan E. Serralles of Puerto Rico on March 30, 1927, and after siring seven purebred foals for him as registered in the American Horse Registry's studbooks during the years 1928, 1929, and 1930, *Rizvan disappears from written records.
